Big Air Bash, A Bremerton Homecoming
WWWWWWHhhhhhhhhooaaaaaaaaaa boy, I went to an MxPx concert last night, they came back to their hometown of Bremerton for the first time in a few years and whoa baby did they rock the house. Their set included covers of "Should I stay or should I go" by the Clash and "Blitzkreig Bop" by the Ramones and "Summer of '69" off of their "On the Cover" record, along with their own hits "Punk Rawk Show," "Responsibility," "Move to Bremerton," "Chick Magnet," "GSF," "Today is in my Way," "My Life Story," "Party at my House, Be There," also the biggest hits off their new album "Well Adjusted," (which is as good as it gets folks) "Quit Your Life," (The only song of the evening that wasn't one you could go crazy too, although some people did because it's a good song) "It's Alright," and "Play it Loud." And some other stuff that I can't remember. It was by far the best concert I've been too, I've never been kicked in the head by crowd surfers so many times, and I was close enough ! to Mike that he could have spit on me if he'd wanted too, ooooohhhhh maaaaaaan it was great and it's gonna stick with me forever, MxPx is the absolute best.

Civic Tour
On June 1ST MxPx Joined a couple of other bands like Good Charlotte, New Found Glory and The Movie Life on the Honda Civic Tour. MxPx's performance was awesome! There was great lighting, guitar tossing, and a lot of entusiasm on stage. I could honestly say that it rocked!!

05/12/01@ Birch Hill, Old Bridge NJ
This was the second time i've seen MxPx, and i came KNOWING that they would rock, so its not like i was going to be dissipointed. (the first time was with the Offspring in December 2000..good show). Ultimate Fake Book came on first, and they were rocking. Then Good Charlotte came on and Yeah, i'll admit it, i like them, they may be the boy band of Punk, but they still play with such an energy, and they were Sooooooo good. I was up in front of the stage, getting the crap kicked out of me during their entire set, but it was worth it. After they got off, finnally MxPx came on, and they opened with *Teenage Waste Land* by the Who, which was great. At this point, i was so battered and bruised from being kicked around in the TINY pit, (and hey, i'm kidna tiny, so sue me) so i got out of the pit, and met up with 2 of my other 3 friends that i came with. The rest of the show was AWESOME, and they played like every song that i came hoping to hear, including a cover of *Should I Stay Or Should I Go* and TOM sang! I was surprised how good he sounded. This was by far, the best concert i have ever been to... I'm looking forward to going to see them again, soon hopefully!!!!!

May 22, 2001
hey guys...i recently saw the boys on may22 2001 on the "on the road again tour". sheesh...let me tell all the unluck fans what they missed. especially the numerous "fans" that apparantly weren't pleased with the epm sound. man...they souned so incredible. the energy u got from mike's singing was chilling, and tom's guitar and yuri's drums were totally on top of things. i keep saying to all their critics... u know maybe a lot of the songs have the same beat or feel and they are all pretty simple songs, but they sound so together and so right that it's hard to not to totally dig their music. besides tom's riffs, yuri's precision, and mike's lyrics and voice are just electrifying. i keep insisting that "mxpx" has to be one of the top punk rawk bands out there. and too tie all together is their clean and sXe image. they have been great role models for me and their songs serve as a kind of answer to all of life's problems.
if u havent seen these guys, check them out!!!!!!!
later guys and gals

The Showbox - Seattle, 3/26/01
On Monday, March 26th, 2001, the punk rockers MxPx and Good Charlotte sure put on an energized, yet moving all-ages show at the Showbox in Seattle. The mostly teenage crowd brought an indescribable sense of energy to the nightclub starting 7pm. I know you’ve heard of Good Charlotte, who played tracks from last year’s self-titled Epic release. You would probably recognize Benji with his pink ‘do which unfortunately was covered by a black beanie. A short, but sweet 45 minute set, “Little Things” seemed to be the party song of the night as Joel sung while crowd-surfing. Other tracks included, “Let Me Go”, “East Coast Anthem” and “Seasons”. Talk about a generous band, after the show, Billy, Joel, Benji, Aaron and Paul stood on the sidewalk outside the downtown Seattle club signing autographs and meeting fans.
MxPx, hailing from Bremerton, put the almost-hometown crowd in a party mood that Monday night. It’s loud and the music is non-stop, what do you expect from a former Christian group signed to Tooth & Nail records. Now signed to A&M, this punk rock band’s attack sure is more aggressive than a few years ago. Of course, there’s no greater feeling in the world than hearing your favorite songs, sung by your favorite band, five feet in front of you. You could actually see the sweat beads rolling down Mike Herrera’s face. All the way up to the last song, there was still that energetic feeling in the crowd and on stage. Songs included, “Chick Magnet”, “Punk Rawk Show” and “G.S.F.” Of course, they had to play cuts from last years, “The Ever Passing Moment” such as “Responsibility”, “My Life Story” and “The Next Big Thing”. My favorite part of the night was the cover of the Clash’s, “Should I Stay or Should I Go” sung by Tom, who plays guitar and sings backup. Later on in the show, a fan was invited up on stage to sing, “Small Town Minds”, a very fast upbeat song. Mike, with his black hair dyed blonde, ended up helping him out a little. The equipment changes were fast and slick, just like the sound of Mike’s white and black Ernie Ball MusicMan Stingray bass. Cute, yet embarrassing enough, Mike’s voice cracked near the end of the hour and a half set. According to Tom, “Mike’s hitting puberty.” Herrera’s response? “That’s right ladies, I’m still young!” Mike, bass guitar, Tom, guitar, and Yuri, drums, are all only 24 years old. The show ended with a chanting of “Encore”, which of course was granted. If you haven’t heard of Good Charlotte or MxPx, I recommend you check them out! I was lucky enough to leave with one of Tom’s guitar pick, a couple T-shirts, and a story to tell at school the next day! That was sure a night of fun, and one to remember. No hangover whatsoever.

Cleveland, Ohio - November 17, 1998
This concert was AWESOME! It was at the Odeon in Cleveland on Tuesday, Nov. 17, 1998. Cooter opened, and I felt bad for them because everyone was practically booing them. No one was into it. Then came Get Up Kids, and they were pretty good. Still, no one was really into it. But when MxPx finally came on (after about 2 hours) everyone went wild! They opened with Andrea, which kind of surprised me... I was expecting Middlename for some reason. Anyway, to anyone who's never heard MxPx live...you're missing out! A lot of bands sound different live than they do on their cd's, but MxPx has got a true sound, not one that's all digitally made up. Mike was sick, so he let some people come up on stage to sing "Ears to Hear." I think that's the only song they played from Pokinatcha. I was hoping they'd play Wantad, but they didn't. From TP they played Teenage Politics, Punk Rawk Show (of course)and probably some others, but I don't remember. Let me tell you, people got pumped when they played "Do Your Feet Hurt" and "Move to Bremerton." Actually, the whole place was like one big mosh pit the entire time...you could barely move. I was in about the second row, though...I pushed my way up there. Right in front of Mike! Oh yeah. They also played "My Mom Still Cleans My Room" and quite a few other songs from Life in General. Chick Magnet, of course, and Your Problem My Emergency. Then from Buffalo they played almost every song except Invitation to Understanding (which really disappointed me!), What's Mine is Yours, and some of the ones toward the end (Inches From Life, etc.). They didn't play for nearly as long as I would have liked...only about an hour. It was amazing, though...I had such a blast. Oh, and of course they closed with Punk Rawk Show. If they ever come within a day's drive of me again, I'm there!

MxPx @ Hunka Bunka Ballroom Sayreville, NJ 11/7/99
Hey everyone, on Sunday I saw MxPx @ Hunka Bunka Ballroom is Sayreville, NJ and on a scale of 1-10 I give it an 8. No Motiv opened and kicked it as usual, then the 22 Jacks came on they are terrible except they played a the Sting cover S.O.S. whic was really cool. Finally MxPx came on. They played a great show except the crowd was terrible, they were all about crowd surfing, which in my opinion is the stoopitist thing anyone can do!!!! I got beaten up badly, kicked in the head, bruised knee, and that sucked bad, but MxPx played such a good show! They played a few new songs and the usual. They even played a Cootees cover which was great! see ya

Dallas, Texas, Fall 1999
i know its long, its more of a story but here it goes.... ok, we drove up to the club at about 6:00 in dallas, and the doors were supposed to open at 8. well we stop the van, get out, and there was this ryder truck there. i came around it and tom wisniewski , the guitarist for mxpx was standing there unloading stuff, so we walked up and were like "hey.." it was funny. so we talked with him for a few minutes, then let him go. well we hung out by the door for a while cause they weren't letting anyone in yet. a couple guys from no motiv kept walking in and out, and we were asking them if they would let us in, but they didn't oh well. so we waited a long time, and after a while the line of people circled around the ENTIRE city block, and this was just a small club, i didn't know how all the people would fit in there. so we are like in the very front of the line, and a kid from my world history class walks up, and so we were talking and he didn't even have a ticket. well he stood with us in the reserved tickets line because i reserved them through the fan club for me an d my brother. so about 7:30 some guy saying he was from ticketmaster says "anybody need tickets?" he sold about $200 worth of tickets in 2 minutes, and my friend got the last one he had! ok so when i got my reserved tickets, it came with this pass to go meet the band. well, it had a little note saying, thanks for being in the fan club, meet us behind pete's cafe, or whatever @ 8:45 PM. well at that time it was about 8:05 so we waited in line to go in to see No Motiv. the club already barely had any room to move, and outside the line stretched all the way AROUND the block! so i stayed in there for the first 3 songs from No Motiv. then we went outside around to the back of the club, it was kind of an alley, and there were about 20 other people there who had passes to meet them. so i was walking up to them, and the drummer, Yuri walked right by me, i was like "woah thats yuri" (after i realized it was him and he was gone) but anyways he went somewhere, then came back with mike and tom, and we all went into some restaurant so the other 500 people outside didn't see us or whatever i don't know. anyways more than half the people were too shy and just stood like 30 feet from the guys, well i started talking to yuri, we were all just standing around asking questions or whatever. then i asked mike how many guitars he has and stuff, he said about 15, but anyways it was pretty cool. i got to talk to each one of them for about 10 minutes. so then they had to go get ready, and we went back inside the club, and it was SOO packed, the second you got in the door you couldn't move, well i just walked through everyone until i was about halfway to the stage. by then, the second band, 22 jacks, was playing, their music wasn't bad, but they got really annoying. the lead singer kept saying how great they were, they tried to not let the people think for themselves. or whatever. anyways they were all like 35 years old, the lead singer was weird , he was like, "heres a song for the ages, Rock and roll party usa" we were like, uh o k wheres mxpx. well there was a hole in the middle of the crowd where everyone was moshing, i just ran through there so i could get closer for when mxpx came on. by the time 22 jacks got done, i was in the third "row" of people from the barricade. i was pumped, cause i somehow got that close after being outside for so long. so then we were all talking we were so crammed together its not even funny. then mxpx came out, and everyone went nuts. well i was stuck 3 feet from 1 set of the 4 refridgerator sized speakers and tom was blowing my ears out but it was awesome. they put on a better show than in any videos i have of them\ well then i pushed my way to the center, and then as the show went on i got closer and closer to the barricade. and finally, i was in the front row center!! it was the best! tom and mike kept standing on top of the monitors while they were playing, inches away from falling on us. they were throwing free patches and stickers and pics into the crowd. well i ended up getting one of mike's pics. it was cool. anyways they played 25 songs in 1 hour. it was so awesome one of the most fun nights ever. by the last song, i was out of breath and practically dead tired, then we went outside and waited for my dad, he didn't come so we walked back by their tour bus and they were standing around signing autographs and stuff, so i talked with mike and tom again, i told mike i was the one that e-mailed each other back and forth a couple times last month, asking about certain stuff, and he was like "yeah yeah, ok" so then we went home, and i had ringing in my ears for 3 days but its almost gone now.

I was never really into "punk" music until my best friend let me listen to mxpx. i thought they kicked ass and i went out, bought some cd's and i've been in love with them ever since. when my friend first saw that they were going to be in chicago, we totally freaked out. we didnt even ask our parents if we could go. i got my moms credit card #, ordered a bunch of tickets online and then we later asked my friends mom to drive us to The Metro in downtown Chicago. Of course, she wasn't gonna just leave us there alone, so we had to give up one of our tickets to her, which she used to sit in balcony and drink beer. thats alrite though. we couldnt get anyone else to go with us so we sold the rest of our tickets to sum very "nice" looking people (i have NO idea what they were doin at a punk show). Well, to make a long story short, MxPx kicked ass. the opening bands were alrite, i wasnt really paying attention. i just wanted to see mr. herrera up there and MAYBE just maybe i'd be able to get to the front, reach up and touch his hand :) well it didnt happen that night, but the next time i went to see em, it did. i MADE SURE that i had a front row spot, i was crushed up against the bars, in a lot of pain but i still managed to climb up and touch mike's hand. i havent washed it since haha j/k
