MxPx is a three piece punk rock band originally from a small town called Bremerton in Washington. The original members were Mike Herrera, the main song writer, vocalist, and bass player, Andy Husted, the guitarist, and Yuri Ruley on the drums. MxPx was formed in 1992, making it's members 15 years old when they started playing in the band. MxPx started out with the name Magnified Plaid but later shortened it to MxPx. The reason for this is, one time Andy wore an shirt that said "M.P." standing for Magnified Plaid. The periods after the M and P were actually small x's making it spell MxPx. The band apparently liked that name better so they stuck with it. MxPx started out by playing shows in backyards and other local shows and Mike played his guitar and sang every week at their church's youth group. The band play their early shows at places near the Seattle area like Sheridan Parks Center, Newsong Coffee House, Silverdale Park Center, and the Zoo Cafe to name a few.

Soon after MxPx started recording songs and stuff, Tooth and Nail Records got a hold of and listened to one of their demo tapes. They liked what they heard and decided to sign MxPx to a record contract. MxPx's first full length album called Pokinatcha can be described as a more "raw sounding" album. It was released in 1994 on Tooth and Nail Records. Pokinatcha contains the song Want Ad which was later made in to a music video.

After the release of Pokinatcha, Andy left the band and a new guitarist, Tom Wisniewski, joined. There are many rumors about why Andy left the band but I think it was mainly because he didn't like all the touring. The first full length album with Tom as the guitarist was called Teenage Politics. This album was released in 1995 and included popular songs such as Teenage Politics and Punk Rawk Show. Both of these songs were also made into music videos. Later in that same year, an album of cover songs was released. It included cover songs of Drum Machine Joy by Joy Electric, Summer of 69 by Bryan Adams, Oh Boy by Buddy Holly, Take on Me by AHA, and No Brain by Mike and Tom's other band, the Cootees. The Cootees are currently not making albums anymore. A year later in 1996, Life In General was released. It features radio and cd singles such as Move To Bremerton, and Chick Magnet. Both of those songs were also made into music videos and featured on MTV's 120 Minutes.

After the release of Life In General, MxPx left Tooth and Nail records and signed a record deal with A&M Records because of some problems with Tooth and Nail and to get wider distribution of their music in the music industry. Slowly Going The Way Of The Buffalo was released in 1998 on A&M Records. I'm OK, You're OK, a cover song of The Cootees was on this album and was made into a music video. MxPx's latest release is a compilation album called Let It Happen. This is an album full of unreleased songs, b-sides, and songs from MxPx singles like 17, Punk Rawk Show, Move To Bremerton, Life In General Pre Release Teaser, and Small Town Minds, and other compilations. This CD was released on Tooth and Nail Records though because they owned the rights to publish the songs and A&M didn't. MxPx has appeared at many music festivals including Tom Fest, Cornerstone, Bumbershoot, and others. They also toured on the 1998 Vans Warped Tour.

On July 27, 1999, MxPx released a live album called At The Show on Tooth and Nail and Rock City Records (MxPx's record label). This features live songs from Pokinatcha, Teenage Politics, Life In General, and Slowly Going The Way Of The Buffalo. On May 16, 2000, MxPx released a new album called "The Ever Passing Moment" with 15 NEW songs. This album was released on A&M/Interscope Records, which MxPx switched to in 1999. All of the members of MxPx plus their drum tech guy, Neil, have formed a band called Arthur so they are more busy than ever. A full length Arthur album is in the works for a release later this year. Well, I guess that is everything I know about MxPx so far. Later.
